Warranty

Before riding your bicycle, please read these Mendiz instructions carefully.

Legal Warranty

The Legal Warranty is the cover, determined by law, by which Mendiz guarantees its frames against manufacturing flaws for the first three years after purchase.

This warranty gives the purchaser the right to have the defective product repaired and/or replaced free of charge. This warranty’s conditions concerning manufacturing flaws will be governed by the standards set according to the European Guarantee Law.

This legal warranty specifically covers manufacturing flaws for our frames and rigid forks (guaranteed product) that we mount on our bicycles for the given period of three years from purchase.

This warranty is entirely compatible with legal and commercial warranties from manufacturers and distributors of components from commercial brands, other than Mendiz and that we mount on our bicycles. In the event of a flaw in any of these components, it will be the actual owner, through a Mendiz distributor, who is responsible for processing the warranty directly with the manufacturers or distributors of these brands.

The products sold in a store that is not a MENDIZ Authorised Distributor will not be covered by the legal warranty and the MENDIZ WARRANTY applicable to the original owner.

REQUIREMENTS to apply the legal warranty:

  • The owner must bring the Mendiz distributor a copy of the bicycle invoice that the Mendiz distributor would have given to the person purchasing the bicycle from them.
  • The user must keep the bicycle in good working order according to the recommendations that they can find on the Mendiz website. Consequently, Mendiz could reject any warranty claim for a fault directly due to lack of maintenance on the bicycle by the owner.
  • Mendiz will not assume any warranty claim in the case of breakages or faults derived from negligent use of the product, mounting components other than the originals mounted by Mendiz, or due to inappropriate maintenance operations by the actual user or a third party on their behalf.
  • The warranty does not include any perishable parts or components exposed to wear and tear, such as tyres, fittings, gears, bearings, chainrings and sprockets, the chain, spokes, brake disks or pads, grips and belts, batteries and components in the electrical system, threads and screws, etc. when the reason is actual wear. This list of components is illustrative and not exhaustive.
  • This legal warranty only refers to replacing non-compliant items and in no case does it cover any personal damage that might be derived directly or indirectly from a fault in them when using the product. In the event of a traffic accident, this legal warranty is null and void.

PROCESS to apply the legal warranty:

  1. The user must contact the distributor where they purchased the product or any other Mendiz distributor, so that the warranty paperwork can be sent from this Mendiz sales point.
  2. The warranty will be subject to our technicians’ decision. They will evaluate the nature of the damage on the product, after studying the frame in question.
  3. In any case, it will be the Mendiz technicians who decide whether to repair or replace the product under warranty. If it is not possible to substitute the non-compliant product for a similar one, due to lack of stock, Mendiz will give the user other products with the same quality and/or it might offer a product with higher quality at a small cost for the user.

Mendiz Guarantee

Our MENDIZ lifelong guarantee covers the frame, the rigid fork, the rear triangle in the case of a suspension frame, sold in Spain, against any manufacturing flaw with no time limit, from when the product was bought by its first owner.

All other warranties cannot include the rest of the parts that might be joined to the assembly described and that are considered components or “spare parts”, such as non-rigid forks or other components described in the illustrative and non-exhaustive list in the previous section.

This Mendiz guarantee will extend beyond the end of the legal warranty, regarding sales in Spain, starting from the purchase of the product by the first owner.

The warranty cover for manufacturing flaws on painting and corrosion of the frames, the rigid fork or rear triangle (double suspension) will be three years from when the product is purchased by the first owner, for sales in Spain.

REQUIREMENTS to apply the Mendiz warranty:

  • This warranty is validated by the original owner of the bicycle within 15 days of purchasing the product by registering the frame or bicycle on the Mendiz website. Therefore, this guarantee cannot be transferred to subsequent owners who were not the initial purchaser. In this supposition, users who made the initial purchase and who wish to activate this guarantee will have to present the original purchasing invoice to the Mendiz distributor.
  • The Mendiz warranty cannot be applied in the case of cracks, breakages or faults derived from negligent use of the product, mounting components other than the originals mounted by Mendiz, or due to inappropriate maintenance operations by the actual user or a third party in their name.
  • Nor can the Mendiz warranty be applied when the claim refers to a fault directly due to lack of maintenance or negligent use of the bicycle by the owner.
  • The Mendiz warranty does not cover all the perishable parts or components exposed to wear from use, such as tyres, fittings, gears, bearings, chainrings and sprockets, the chain, spokes, brake disks or pads, grips and belts, batteries and components in the electrical system, threads and screws, etc. when the reason for failure is wear and tear. This list is illustrative and not exhaustive.
  • Like the legal warranty, the Mendiz warranty only refers to replacing non-compliant items and in no case does it cover any personal damage that might be directly or indirectly caused by a fault in these items, during use of the product and in the event of a traffic accident. Irrespective of who or what caused it, all warranties (Legal or Mendiz) are null and void.

PROCESS to apply the Mendiz warranty:

  1. The user contacts the distributor where they purchased the product or any other Mendiz distributor, so that the legal warranty paperwork can be sent from this Mendiz sales point.
  2. The Mendiz warranty will be subject to our technicians’ decision. They will evaluate the nature of the damage on the product, after studying the frame in question.
  3. In all cases, it will be the Mendiz technicians who decide whether to repair or replace the product under warranty. If it is not possible to substitute the non-compliant frame with a similar one, due to lack of stock, Mendiz will give the user another frame with the same quality and/or it might offer a higher quality product at a low cost to the user.
  4. The Mendiz warranty and the legal warranty do not cover the amount of the necessary man-hours to dismantle and subsequently reassemble the frame and fixed fork that require repair or replacement, nor any transport costs that might be derived from repair or replacement.

Register the frame on the website

  • • The frame ID code is under the bottom bracket cage.

Recommendations and information to keep your bike in good condition

Before riding your new Mendiz bike

The authorised Mendiz distributor will check over and adjust the bicycle, check that the screws have been tightened, adjust the brakes and the gears. They will help you to adjust the position to suit your size and shape.

Recommendations to make your bicycle last

How long your bicycle lasts will depend on how it has been used. Using your bike for competitions or another aggressive or intense use will considerably reduce its lifespan.
A bicycle with a heavy user will not last as long as with a lighter user.
Roads, paths, tracks... uneven ground, use in the rain, mud, stones, etc. or use with very hard tyres are other factors that shorten the lifespan of a bicycle and its components.
Falls and crashes will affect structural integrity and substantially shorten its lifespan.
To enable your bicycle to last a long time, it is best to use good quality tyres or inner tubes with a minimum diameter of 23mm, ride on roads in good condition, avoid excessively light frames, components and wheels and never make gear changes at full stretch.

Protect your frame from possible damage caused by jumps or chain suck. This might damage the carbon structure and crack the frame. Aluminium, steel, stainless steel or carbon protection is available to prevent damage to the frame structure.
A crack caused in this way is not under warranty.

Not all materials suffer the same wear. Materials such as carbon can be structurally damaged without showing and then suddenly break without warning.

The technology used to manufacture bicycles and components is very advanced. Sometimes improving performance or making the bike lighter will shorten its lifespan.

  • It is not possible to manufacture a very light bike that lasts a long time and costs little.
  • Fatigue is difficult to see, and it causes many incidents (cracks).
Material fatigue is caused by repeated low intensity movements. If a movement is repeated continuously on a part, sooner or later it will break, even when these are regular movements.
Fatigue progressively weakens the part to the point that it breaks during normal use. The weakened part might also break due to an impact that would normally not be sufficient to break the part. It might also receive an impact that affects structural integrity and accelerates fatigue. Fatigue is difficult to detect, and parts can break without warning or without even suspecting it.
  • Bicycle manufacturing standards do not require them to last forever but set a minimum duration so that they can be sold. The legislator knows and accepts that the bicycle has a useful life after which safety and requirements are not the same.
  • It is always better to play it safe. Do not wait for a component to break before replacing it. They should be replaced before the end of their useful cycle.
Materials such as carbon might not demonstrate structural damage immediately.
Fatigue might be difficult to verify on other materials such as aluminium.
Total safety is impossible because riding a bike involves risks. Each bicycle component can break at a given time, irrespective of any maintenance or checks.
Recommendation for preserving paintwork

After each ride, clean your bicycle carefully, particularly any parts that might be covered in salt, sweat, spray, etc.
If you are close to the sea, you should pay greater attention and clean your bicycle meticulously.
If this is not done properly, in just a few weeks the paintwork will suffer irreparable damage (rust, etc.) which cannot be blamed on a manufacturing flaw.
If you wish to preserve the tone and shine of your paintwork, the bicycle should be kept out of direct sunlight or it should be covered to stop the sun dulling the original shine and tone of the paintwork.

Recommendations depending on the user’s weight:

We’re sorry to have to ask, but it’s a safety issue. No bicycle, including test devices, is protected to withstand just any weight. The heavier the user, the less time each bicycle component lasts, even reaching a certain load limit. Beyond their load limit, bicycle components might suffer structural issues, even when new. The heavier the user, the more frequently the bike should be checked over. We consider that greater care should be taken from 90kg upwards. If you weigh more than 110 kg, you should ask for help when choosing a frame, forks, wheels and components adapted to your weight.

Conditions and exceptions to the warranty cover

  • The warranty does not cover inappropriate assembly, as described in the requirement sections.
  • The warranty does not cover inappropriate maintenance, as described in the requirement sections.
  • The warranty does not cover fitting parts and accessories that have not been designed for, or are not compatible with, the bicycle.
  • The warranty does not cover the man-hours to replace or change the parts.
  • The warranty does not cover the transport cost for collecting and delivering the item.
  • The warranty never covers perishable parts such as tyres, brake disks, grips, etc. as described in the requirement sections.
  • This warranty never applies to breaks or defects derived from inappropriate use of the bicycle, such as the use of bearings, movement on grids, etc.
  • It is not recommended to use high pressure hoses for cleaning. For appropriate maintenance of the frame paintwork, after each use, any parts where there is sweat or spray or any other corrosive agent should be cleaned carefully. If this cleaning is not done, any remaining sweat or spray will accelerate premature ageing of the paintwork.
  • In no case does the warranty cover personal damage that might be directly or indirectly caused by faults in the parts during use.
  • USE IN COMPETITION CANCELS THE WARRANTY.
